# See the Closed Period on Each Field

> See the dates you must not spread on each field, worked out from the nation, the soil and the crop.

**Before you start.** Each field has its crop. The dates depend on it.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Today, then Key dates">
    Key dates lists every closed period on the farm by month, with the field and the regulation. Use **All fields** or one field's chip.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Read the line">
    "Closed period for slurry and other high-nitrogen manure starts on Lower Meadow, 1 October, 11 days away". Under it the regulation, and the reason: grassland on sandy soil, England.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Plan the storage">
    Go to More, Livestock, then the manure plan. It shows the weeks of storage the closed period needs for the herds you have, against the stores you drew.
  </Step>

## What You See Next

The date is on Today the week it falls and in Monday's email. A spread recorded inside the period is saved and flagged on the NVZ record; the app does not hide it.

## If It Does Not

| You see                     | It means                                    | Do                                                                            |
| --------------------------- | ------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| No closed period on a field | The field is not in an NVZ, or has no crop | Check the nation and the crop; Wales and Northern Ireland are whole-territory |
| The date looks early | Sandy or shallow soil starts a month sooner | The line says which; the soil type is on the field |
| A derogation applies | The app prints the Regulations' date | Record the derogation in the field's notes |
