# Fill In the NVZ Record

> Log each nitrogen application on a field within seven days, and see it against the crop's N-max.

  <Step title="Open the field, then Nitrogen log">
    At the top, **N-max this year** is a bar showing what has gone on against the crop's limit. Red means over.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Log an application">
    Choose **Inorganic** or **Organic**, type the product and the rate in kg N/ha, then tap **Log application (today)**. For manure, the type and the spreading method give the crop-available nitrogen.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Export the record">
    **Export PDF** prints the field's record in the layout the Regulations describe. The five-year archive is a tap away.

## What You See Next

The same line appears on the Records tab and in the NVZ record in the pack. The whole-farm limit, 170 kg N/ha of organic nitrogen, is checked on the manure plan.

## If It Does Not

| You see                        | It means                                | Do                                                                               |
| ------------------------------ | --------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| The bar is red                 | The crop is over its N-max              | It is recorded as it is; the plan on the nutrient page says what the crop needed |
| The product is not in the list | Type it; the list is a help, not a rule | Type the name and the rate                                                       |
| The log wants a crop           | The field has none                      | What is growing, then plant a variety                                            |
