# Sub-field Zones

> Polygon zones at the resolution the regulators need.

## What It Tells You

A **zone** is a polygon inside a field boundary that you treat differently from the rest: a wet corner, a sandy headland, a strip under an SFI action. Zones let you record an application, a rate or an action against the part of the field it went on. A variable-rate plan and a scheme claim both need that. The NDVI capture shows where the canopy differs. That is the usual reason to draw one.

## How It Works

Draw zones on the field map once, as polygons inside the field boundary. Zone-rate planning, the applications log and the scheme evidence read from them.
