# Scout Photo Diagnosis

> Photograph a leaf, get the call with a confidence score.

## What It Tells You

A **scout photo diagnosis** is the most likely disease or pest on a leaf you photographed in the field. It carries a confidence score and what the model saw. A lesion you are unsure about becomes a named call on the field's timeline, with the treatment from the species list. The confidence is the model's own and is indicative. A low score is a reason to walk the patch again. It is not a reason to spray. The diagnosis comes from the [Scout Photo Diagnosis](/models/scout-diagnosis) model.

## How It Works

The photo is stripped of location data and downscaled. It is sent to a vision model constrained to a curated list of twelve species. A reply that does not fit the schema, or whose confidence is below the 0.30 floor, is recorded as unknown. The name and the treatment come from the list. The model supplies only the match. A diagnosis below 0.6, or one you correct, goes to the agronomist queue for a check before it becomes advice.
